Optimization Engineer - Energysystems & Simulation (m/w/d)

We collect real-time data from equipment, predict operational behavior, combine it with external factors (such as weather and energy prices), and optimize energy use to reduce both costs and CO2 emissions.

With our AI-powered flexOn platform, we help industrial electricity consumers actively increase flexibility, using power precisely when it’s greenest and most cost-effective.
Our goal is to accelerate the decarbonization of the energy system while significantly lowering energy costs for our customers.

• Python: Further development of our energy management system for multi-asset plants (e.g., PV, battery storage, heat pump, CHP): modeling, decision-making, and schedule/setpoint generation

• Software engineering: Architecture work, code reviews, testing (pytest/Simulink Test), CI/CD; close collaboration in an agile team

• Completed degree in engineering, computer science, energy engineering, or a comparable field

• Very strong Python skills: experience with time series (pandas), typing/dataclasses, pytest, structured logging; working with REST APIs and object storage (S3); clean software design

• Nice to have: understanding of energy systems and (control-/optimization-based) decision methods; experience in control engineering

• Nice to have: experience with optimization (e.g., LP/MILP, Pyomo, Oemof), Docker/CI

• Independent, structured way of working and enthusiasm for interdisciplinary project work
